CROSSCHANNEL Tower of Friends Translation Patch by Amaterasu Translations Main Site: http://amaterasu.tindabox.net/ Forums: http://amaterasu.tindabox.net/forums/ Bug Report Thread: http://amaterasu.tindabox.net/forums/index.php?topic=21.0 -- Staff -- Translator: Ixrec Hacking & Programming: Nagato Editors: Sheeta, Shikiller QCers: AllanGordon, Raide, Balcerzak, Embok -- Installation Instructions -- The installer is pretty straight forward. Some parts might take a little while to complete depending on the speed of your computer. Just sit tight and wait for it to do its thing. This patch adds a second exe (cc-tof.exe) and seven new script files. These scripts contain two short scenarios--one called CROSSCHANNEL and the other CROSS'CHANNEL--both of which are completely separate from the main game. The new exe will access only these scenarios, not the main game. However the old exe (cc-eng.exe) will still run the main game exactly as before. --- Errors --- Error 1: Error opening file for writing. Solution: http://amaterasu.tindabox.net/forums/index.php?topic=21.msg217#msg217 Error 2: Font looks messed up in game. Solution: Copy Inconsolata.ttf from your CC folder into C:\Windows\Fonts. Error 3: Fullscreen/Windowed mode setting not saving. Solution: The cause of this is unknown but the fix seems to be to launch using the CD and change the configuration there. -- Notes -- It is assumed you have already read the entirety of CROSSCHANNEL. There are a small number of gimmicks from CC which both needed translation notes (either from us or the author) and resurface in Tower of Friends, so here are those tl notes again. The first two will also be displayed in-game if you choose to read ToF with tl notes. 1) *Gorcious = Gorgeous + delicious 2) *Shimura Phenomenon = Taichi physics. A kind of observational problem found within stable, specific situations. That which someone can and cannot see is fixed as a personal attribute. Those attributes are often destroyed due to a major change within the situation. 3) It was world'. (Otaku TL note: Since it's not as clear in English, the apostrophe here is the mathematical symbol pronounced "prime" used to label geometrical shapes that have undergone some sort of transformation.) Also, when this scenario was published in the artbook, it came with a little message from Romeo at the end, which I've translated for you here. Unfortunately, even I couldn't make much sense out of this, but I'm confident the adaptation here is nearly flawless, so you may feel confident in your speculations. -- Additional Commentary -- Tanaka Romeo -- This additional scenario "CROSS'CHANNEL" was originally conceived as a bad ending. At first I considered adding this as a different possibility route in the "INVISIBLE MURDER INVISIBLE TEARS" arc, but after rethinking the facts that it would make just Miki's route superfluous, and that there wasn't much meaning to the POV tricks, I removed it from the scenario. There were also the unwanted hints about the "Corpse across the river," "Taichi's white hair & kimono" and "Mimimi." The original concept of the parts around the Miki route was to garnish the strangeness of the loop phenomenon with an air of suspense, in other words a culprit to commit murders and a different suspect had to be prepared. It isn't written here, but somewhere in the middle of the process I thought of leading into a "Taichi B and everyone are happily......" or something.
