I agree about HinataBokko.... just finished it because I had started it.... I almost couldn't
Currently finishing the last two routes of Crescendo and about to start Princess Waltz after that-
btw, what opinions do you have about the last one?

I loved Princess Waltz.  It's definitely one of the best games translated into English.  The ending is just so... epic.  I haven't played a visual novel I have considered to be "great" since this. (excluding MOON.)  The only problem (as mentioned earlier) is that there is only one real ending.  You can choose which girl to bed, but it's still one ending  Just play to see. =P  Besides that, some of the fight scenes drag on a little too long.  It's great though.  It's in desperate need of a fandisc.

Quote
Was there a trap in HinataBokko?

Yeah.  The reason for her being a trap was both stupid and poorly explained though.

I agree with your opinion on Princess Waltz it was a really great game especially when compared with most of the other officially translated Eroges, too bad it only had one route though, but that seems expected since he had someone he loved through the whole thing.

For the issue on your lack of "Great" Eroge's after rading Princess Waltz i'd say go read cross Channel and then Fate/Stay Night NAO =P They're both more than simply "great."

Guess that means a no play for me don't want any trap filled H-Scenes.

I still think they could have incorporated other paths, but it just wouldn't have been "canon".  Arata technically was never faithful anyway. (you must screw one of the other girls to finish the game)

I started CROSS+CHANNEL, but I heard Ixrec is going to re-edit it, so I'm waiting for that.  I would play Fate, but I don't have it and there are still other (lesser) eroge I own that still needs to be finished.

About HinataBokko, I don't see why a trap should matter. (I mean, you did finish Princess Waltz, right...?)  The trap in HB doesn't even act like a guy in the H-scene, so it's not like you need to be scared of loosing your heterosexuality. =P

But that's probably for the best.  HinataBokko sucks big time.

Well yea but those instances seems more out of neccessity than want compared to the H-Scene with you know who (trying to keep names out of it for people who haven't playes the game yet).

Ah, that's a pretty good reason not to start Cross Channel yet, maybe i should hold of on restarting it, i'm not going to resart it for 2 weeks anyways. Do you own Fate yet?? if not buy it NAO, you can still hold off playing it for later, you know he one thing i never got was why in the world i used the HCG Uncensor patch for Fate it looked natural but there was really no point behind it...

Yea, I finished Princess Waltz, I guess the trap aspect shouldn't really matter but still its different, Princess Waltz was a Reverse Trap with a girl acting like a guy, so that was okay.

I still don't think the other H-scenes were necessary.  Sure, they gave the excuse of being "powered up through sex", but that was really only added in so there could be sex with all the girls.  I think the canon path should have been how the game already is, with the other paths keeping the destruction of the world thing would take a back seat.  I just think they really could have fit in other paths, especially when all the girls had potential.

Not enough money for Fate, sorry. =P  I still need money to buy people christmas presents and stuff and I don't want to be broke after one game, so it's going to have to wait until another pay check.

The trap in HinataBokko is a girl acting like a guy. (hence, Princess Waltz)

It's mainly because of the medium and they probably fwlt it wouldn't sell well otherwise. Though I guess it could owrk out that way.

I guess i underestimate the cost of Eroges since I borrowed most of the games i've played from my friend except for the ones i find really good which I buy.. Still though, I command you to buy it as soon as possible <___<

Ah, I guess i was confused then, that definetly clears some things up. Maybe i'll take a look at HinataBokko after all though, lots of people said it wasnt that great a game.

Yeah, that's the reason for 78% (actual percentage) of H-scenes in story based games.  Kanon had H-scenes simply so it would sell more copies.

Yep, Japanese eroge is EXPENISVE!  Fate is currently going for $99 on erogeshop.
http://www.erogeshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/1003148

As for HinataBokko, don't.  You would be wasting your time.  Even though the character designs and opening song may look appealing, it isn't the moe fest you are looking for.  Play Shuffle if you haven't.  That's a lot better.
And no offense, but I find it a little shallow that you wouldn't play a game simply because one of the paths may include a guy.  I would play Nitro+ Chiral (I think that's the brand name) if they got translated since the story looks good in those.

Yeah i heard about that, though they ended up  making Clannad and Little Busters non ero, though there was the re-release Little Busters EX.

It will probably get MOAR expensive if you don't act fast, get it quickly <__<

Well, to be honest Hinatabokko didn't interest me anyways, but I though i'd try it because it looks cute only to find out that it had a trap and I honestly didn't feel like playing it anymore, If the story was really good i could probably play through it, but i wouldn't really want to unless the story is really good even if admitedly it is somewhat shallow.

I just don't really want to read about that tyoe of stuff in my Eroges, just like i don't really like reading about Rape, Bondage etc. (though i did play throug Sengoku Rance).

I doubt Fate will go OOP anytime soon.  It's just too popular.  If it ever does go OOP, a cheaper "renewal" edition will probably be released soon after.

I'll read anything as long as the story is supposed to be good.  I hate guro, but I would get it if it was translated.  That's supposed to have an awesome story.

Currently playing Baldr Sky: Dive2 -Recordare- and only reason I'm not playing it right now is because I'm at school, which is the reason I even posted this.

Have to say tough that Baldr Sky is definately going to be my alltime favorite VN once I finish it, unless it completely fucks up in later parts, which I doubt will happen. Rarely something has grabbed me as much as Baldr Sky has, well now that I think about, nothing has ever sucked me in this badly. Because peoples tastes are different, I can't say that everyone would enjoy it as much as I have, but for me atleast it's best thing ever and I doubt that will change in looooooooooooong time.

As of now I have just finished the first route of dive2 (Aki) and quality was equal that to the dive1. It had severall fuck yeah moments, few mind blowing events and reveals and foreshadowing. Also various weird combos were invented with the new weapons.

Now I'm reading the past school life section to unlock the rest of the routes. There has been few new memories that has not been seen in main story and few small chances to old events + new CGs. Kinda had forgotten how much I love these sections for their character interaction, comedy, foreshadowing and generall setting up for various twists that come in later in story. And it all makes me wonder how they are going to use all those story elements in present that has yet to be used. Also Sora is <3 and Aki, Kuu and Makoto are moe, etc.

Cannot wait untill that one scene will happen, hopefully it will be in Makotos route, but I think it also could happen in also Sora route. It all depends how the events will go once Makoto route starts as it diverges right at the start of the game instead bit later like in other routes.

well, I'll stop rambling now...

LOL you seem to really be a huge Baldr Sky fan.  Are you able to read enough Japanese to play it properly?  That's one of the many games I need to learn Japanese for.
BTW, have you played Ever17?  I'm wondering if you think BS can beat even that.

Well, I have been self-learning japanese, but I'm really slow, I also still use dictionaries, agth+translation aggerator and stuff like that to help me to read. so my reading speed is really slow as I try not to miss anything.

As for ever17, Baldr Sky has it beat for me clearly, there might not be anything as brickshitting in it as there is in ever17, but it does get close at some parts and there a lot of things to come, if you believe all the foreshadowing thats going on. Also should be noted that ever17 is only great in coco route (there are other things also which don't really compare, like bit of iffy pacing of the story, characters not being that interesting) while BS great all the way through. as I said it's the best thing ever for me, I don't even properly know why I like BS so much, there's just something that grabs me in it and refuses to let go. Maybe it's that I find the story "beautiful" (it's kinda hard to explain what I really mean) in many different ways, and it's also because of that I really would like to see it translated and other people to read it and appreciate it (altough not everyone will like it sameway as I do).

but anyway, now that I'm back at home, time to continue it.... will probably come ramble some more later.

Hm, well it must be a great game then.  I found the non-Coco routes to be amazing though.  Tsugumi, for instance, had one of the best paths out of any visual novel I've played.  The scene where you hold her bleeding hand in the good ending was just so powerful. (maybe the best scene out of any visual novel)  I consider all the paths in Ever17 to be amazing, but Sara has the weakest path.

Anyway, I just finished Hourglass of Summer after all these years.  It was my first visual novel but the DVD format kept me playing the paths once every year or so.  Great, classic game.  I'll probably focus on Chain and my Himeya games now, but I'm going to focus on studying Japanese now. (for the most part now)

Well, yes, IMO the sole weakness of Ever17 was...who the hell starts playing tag or whatever when trapped in an undersea station?????!!! They took it a bit too easy...

Edit: and...when exactly did Kid have sex in the novel? Not that I recall...

Tsugumis route was probably the best of non-Coco routes in ever17, but it still wasn't that memorable to me. The best thing I remember of ever17 is that mirror scene, bricks were shat in it.

As of most memorable scene in VNs that I have played, is most likely that one scene THAT one scene from Muv-Luv Alternative, but I remember ot mostly from the shock factor it had (I even had it spoiled, but I didn't know when and how it would happen so it was quite...). But probably one of my favorites is that one scene during the gray christmas in Baldr Sky, it just gets me everytime. Hopefully that scene that I anticipate to happen in dive2 is as emotional as I hope, then it probably will get the spot of one of my favorite scenes.

stupid school and exams keeping me from playing dive2, and when I just started the next route and it entered the fuck yeah mode from the very begining....

my reviews are kinda mixed really. I haven't played THAT many eroges since... well... a year ago. I'm kinda stuck with waiting for translations patches to come through.

I'm pretty certain it's suggested somewhere in You's route.  It's been a while since I played it, so I could be wrong.

back here again to ramble some more before I get back home.

Have finished Akis and Makotos routes in dive2 now, so last route remains before I get huge backlash depression when I finish it and it's all over.

Makotos route was probably best of the 5 so far, also the title "Baldr Sky" gets in story mention, should have guessed that it was that one thing....

I kinda feared how they would handle the last route without an asspull and breaking established facts, due to that small problem that is why that route can't happen that easily. well yeah, it seems that fear was useless, as altough I don't have anykind of proper clue what the fuck is currently going on (well I do have few theories), but it seems that there is proper answer to it all, so eagerly awaiting what kind of things are going to happen.

So far I had time to read 2 first chapters of the last route and in this small time (well they were longer than other routes 2 first chapters tough) I already have gone fuck yeah, what the fuck is going on here, shitted bricks, O_O, ;_;, DAAAAWWW'D and FFFFFUUUUUUUUuuuuuu'd, and some of those several times. Definately going to come my favorite route besides the fact that it's my favorite heroines route. Also there was one small reference to Baldr Force.

now getting out before I accidently start spouting spoilers.

random note: I like how pretty much every character have so far had their moments to shine.

I came, I mean it came. In the end I didn't manage to finish it before my copy arrived.

and damn I regret not pre-ordering dive1 now, I would have wanted the posters that came with it as these 3 posters of dive2 are really nice.

The blonde is Rain and yes she does have route. Also many consider her to be best heroine and she also has most of the screentime of them all besides the main character. Personaly I like Sora and Makoto (those two in middle poster) more, but that just tastes speaking. And then again I like the whole cast, usually there is someone in all games that I play that I hate, but this wasn't in the case of Baldr Sky, in which altough I don't like some characters that much I still don't hate them. Personal favorite characters was Sora (the one in games cover and in upper left poster)*grumbles something about Sora being main heroine and having the least screentime from all heroines, but that really can't be helped due to her situation*.

But pretty much have finished the whole thing and easily became my favorite VN ever also probably my favorite story of all the mediums that I follow, it just catered to my tastes so perfectly. Well I still have 1 or 2 different endings to get, but getting them has slowed down because of these damn exams. after getting them I will probably suffer from depression that it's all over.... will probably write a review after I get enough time, altough I suck at writing reviews.

random note: The last route had pretty good ammount of brickshitting going on in it, I also liked the Baldr Sky duo more than what I liked the Muv-Luv Trilogy.

Rain is awesome even if I didn't like Baldr that much (the first one at least, still haven't been able to start Dive2).
Metarail those goods look amazing and I see they justify the price I saw at erogeshop now, I wish they'd ship to my country now ;__;.

Playing now: FullMetal Daemon Muramasa. Bricks were shat at the end of...well, every chapter. Also, Kageaki is such a great main character and the lastest patch of Inganock, so far, I'm impressed.
Proud G-senjou no Maoufag.

well erogeshop does overprice a bit, but in the end it's only place that I know my credit card works and ships international, so yeah not that theres much choices to me (probably even less for you), and it's one of the few places you can get the pre-order bonuses, and I just love pre-order bonuses. Oh yeah, does anyone here know any good places do order VNs/eroges from japan that ships international (other than erogeshop)?

Also how long is muramasa? probably going to play it in future atleast as I have heard it's pretty great (altough I have heard that in drags on in places, how bad is this?), altough it probably won't beat Baldr Sky for me (each people have different tastes). as for baldr sky I consider dive2 routes being better than dive1 routes, altough Akis route is quite similar in quality to dive1 routes, but Makotos route is pretty great and so is Soras due it being well different from the rest. if you wanted comparison to dive1.
