Coμ: General Discussion Thread

Make sure you use spoiler tags whenever appropriate, and make sure it's extremely clear when the tagged spoiler is something not yet revealed in the translated part of Coμ.

I found that if you are on windows 8 (and possibly 7), then you can't start up the game regardless of whether the patch has been installed or not due to an error saying something along the lines of:
'authentication failure: unrecognised kernel32 module /NM'.

After searching it appears that downloading this version.dll file - http://wordpress.click3.org/garakuta/Win8WOH.zip - And copying it into the install directory for comyu, prevents the start up error.

I'm not entirely sure whether this is the right place to put this fix, but I hope others will find this helpful, since a lot of people use windows 8 nowadays.

I think we might be able to include that in a future patch, so thanks for linking it.

...I have a feeling this will be slightly ignored until the grisaia hype dies down

That's been our assumption ever since we realized the Grisaia patch came out on the same day.

Is Benio's route the first one you can complete (and only one) or?

The partially enforced route order is Benio first, then the next three in any order, then Kagome last.

Sounds similar to Rewrite's semi-enforced route order

Not really.  Rewrite's a bit weird in that three are available at the start, one of which unlocks a fourth, and another of which unlocks a fifth.  So you can't go through the first five in any order, but there are a lot of possible orders, and none of them is an enforced first route the way Benio's is.

Nawh, this sounds more like Maou.

One route and then off to the next (or in this case to three others)

Maou's even farther off. In Maou (and Sharin), there was one linear story split into five chapters, and most chapters had a tiny branch that gave you an ending with a specific heroine.

Comyu has a common route that splits into one of five routes. It's just that you can only access Benio's at first, and only after reading all four others can you access Kagome's.

I'd say it's like a BLT sandwich, where the top and bottom bits have to be bread, but you can put the lettuce, tomato and bacon in whatever order you want.

I'm kindly asking for partial script (none at mediafire archive ATM).
For some reason I read any other amaterasu VN translations. And script (hail Ixrec, who of all translators provides these) is highly valuable as japanese study tool. I use it to verificate my own comprehension of the text.

If there is some kind of rule, forbidding partial scripts to be shared, that I missed on forums - disregard the post  ;D.

Nah I'm fine with it.  It only takes a minute to zip them up and drag it onto Mediafire.

Admittedly, given the way Comyu's written (let's just say I've had to take a few more liberties than usual with this text) I'm not sure how valuable this particular VN is as a study tool.

Exellent, big thanks.  :D
Several examples of why the script is valuable:
  • 夜の闇にも色褪せることのない、深い黒がとても綺麗で、まばたきさえも出来ないのに。
Not so obvious (for me, due to inexperience), that the one who blinks is not hair or night.
  • 最後の台詞は使い古された魔法の言葉。めでたし。
Hard to figure out that  “魔法の言葉” Is “めでたし”.
  • 「まったく、いつまで待たせやがんだ」
Not sure if “やがんだ” is inexplicable set of sounds or something meaningful, yet exotic.
Furthermore, sometimes I meet katakana|hiragana-only sentences, non parceable by Mecab or JParcer. Which means deadlock...
